16 mm

16 mm cameras were designed for high demands of professionals. Many 35 mm feature films used 16 mm footage for its easy to carry, lighter, and more compact design. The negatives were then enlarged to 35 mm at the highest quality using an optical enlarger/printer. Arri SRII high speed could run at a top speed of 150 f/s, and 200 f/s with custom modifications. The body design in Arri cameras is so versatile. There is an accessory interface above the lens mount in 16ST (left), and below the lens mount on SR cameras (right) to accept a bracket securing a mat box, follow focus gear, etc. All the electrical contacts for speed control are placed on the back of the camera. Through a designer's eyes, the RED Epic body design is a close copy of the Arri SR body design: Same placement of the accessory shoe, electrical connections, viewfinder, and and grip mount.
