8 mm

These cameras range from inexpensive point and shoot Kodak cameras to professional looking Bealieu and Leicina Special offering slow motion speeds up to 80 frames per second in Beaulieu, and time laps photography with variable exposure up to 8 Sec. Some of these 8 mm cameras were expensive toys for the amateur film makers who didn't dare to go to the 16 mm format, thinking it would be much more expensive (and it was). The 8 mm format used a small film cartridge (right) only good for 3.5 minuets of continuous shooting. Sound cartridges had elongated housing at the bottom to allow sound recording on the film.

This beautiful peace of work was shot with Leicina 8 mm camera. Beaulieu would have been a better choice for its higher 80 fps frame speed. This footage, and its music could have been the work of a 16 mm camera user. Most 16 mm camera owners got paid for their work, and probably didn't have time for a girl playing with her hair in the sun.
