Afshari AF 110

This was my own hand made camera built back in early 80's. I had a Unimat 3 lathe with a milling attachment, and I spent 6 months designing, and building this camera. At the time, I had no understanding of camera design, and I thought every camera has a crankshaft at its base that moves the mirror up and down like Petri. So this was a copy of that design. The mirror on this camera acts as the shutter, and frankly, I never take pictures with it. It was right after building this camera that I attended National Camera Institute in Denver, CO to study camera design.

AF 100 did not use a pentaprism. It instead utilized a microscope to focus the nearby focusing screen by bouncing the image through 4 mirrors. Minolta Nexus camera came a year later using this design.
