Leica Motor

Leica motor was in demand for sports photography, and it started in screw mount Leicas, and then for the M-series, the first motor was introduced by Leica New York for the M2, and M4 bodies. Leica then produced a cheap motor drive for the M4-2 that looked more like a toy in Leica's own standards. It sensed when to start, and to start the motor by the force it exerted on the winding shaft, and you could feel the camera twist back and forth between the motor, and the body. The next motor Leica produced was a nice compact power winder as good as Canon offered for their AE-1. Power winder for SL2 Mot was designed more like a tank. You could not stop the motor if you placed your foot on the camera, and held the film with both hands.
