Nikkor Lenses

Nikon lenses are put together with more care than other lenses I have seen. Although I am more of a Canon person, Nikon's opto-mechanics always impressed me. This is not true about their OEM microscopes which I have also worked on (they use so much plastic). They used to advertise this in photography magazines of the time: "What's inside matters". I think they were built to last, specially that their reputation with Nikon-F was that it was a war front camera like Leica rangefinders were. One notable feature of Nikkor lenses was that their exposure meter coupling was external to engage with the meter finders. It was later changed to AI lenses that coupled with Body's internal exposure meters.
