Watchmaking Tools

Watchmaking tools help the watchmaker to accomplish special tasks. It would be impossible to perform a watchmaker's work without these tools. Bergeon, Lorch,  Seitz, and various French/Swiss manufacturers offer a huge range of hand tools for the watchmaker. Watchmaking tools are normally very expensive for a name-brand watch like ROLEX. The Bergeon catalog probably holds a few million dollars of tools. Here are quite a few of these high quality tools available at the museum for watchmaking, and restoration. It's only with proper tools that watches can be opened, and closed without damage.

Sapphire files look like glass but they do actually file off micro polished parts such as skeleton watch parts, and escapement wheels.

Coung's own collection of watches: Here is a minute repeater movement. Not every watchmaker could make one because it requires experience with complicated watches. Watchmaking is all about having the right tools, and the knowledge, and skills to use them.
