Yashica Super 40E

Yashica was a well made camera during the 35 mm, and 8 mm, and 120 format film era. I grew up with this 8 mm camera, and began film making while I was really young. I completely took this camera apart while I was around 16 years old, and the quality of its construction still impresses me. It's probably the first camera I made a hand drawing for (below). The servo mechanism in Yashica is as good as it was for Arriflex. There is a servo motor running the diaphragm blades. I higher models like the Super 80E, they actually use an iris diaphragm in the lens, and the servo drives it like a Beaulieu camera.

Exploded view of Yashica Super 40E from my book: " Restoring the SLR".
