Zenith C

This is one of my favorite SLRs because they have literally made it out of a Screw mount Leica IIIf, and it’s done so cleverly, and beautifully. Many times I put myself in the shoes of a photographer who lived in 1950’s, and needed an affordable camera, and what kind of experience would that person have using Zenith C? This camera is built by adding a string to a Leica drum type shutter to pull down the reflex mirror, and let it go before the shutter release. But don't underestimate the complexity of its mirror mechanism. The mirror release sequential linkage is complex in this camera. There are watchmaking screws utilized in mirror activating cam.

Zenith C disassembled to show its similarity with Leica IIIf in shutter mechanism, Lens mount, and body shell.
